In June of 2004, I visited the Brewer Family Miniature Horse Ranch in Texas and bought two of their horses. Their breeder is Roy Brewer of Brewer Family Miniature Horses, Gainesville, TX. In July of 2004, both horses moved to the Mesa in Taos, NM, where we lived at the time, and provided me with joy and fun every day. This is a new adventure for me because I am a first time horse owner and have to learn a lot, FAST. We had to build a barn, a hay barn, two ramadas plus putting up additional fencing and cross fencing. Of course, we also needed a round pen, a horse trailer and a truck, able to pull the trailer, and… and… and. At the time, showing was not the plan. We just wanted to have fun. Well, you probably know, how THAT goes. So, here we are, bitten by the “show bug” and getting a lot more involved in the ever so delightful “Minis”. I started studying and applying the “Parelli Natural Horse-Man-Ship” method. It is based on playing (seven games that horses play with each other) with your horse and thereby establishing trust. Absolutely fascinating. Now
we are very excited about our new future home and ranch in Gainesville,
Texas.
